According to the photographer's description, at the time of filming, the tank contained 6 guppies, more than 10 rummy-nose tetras, and dozens of cherry shrimp. After trimming the overgrown aquatic plants and changing the water, which likely disturbed the bottom substrate, the ostracods emerged en masse.
