About Science Maker

The Facebook group Science Maker was founded by Professor Hung-Jen Chiang from the Institute of Applied Mechanics at National Taiwan University. The group is dedicated to promoting the accessibility and practical use of scientific instruments. Scimage offers a wide variety of devices, including smartphone microscopes, research-grade smartphone microscopes, macro lenses, and smartphone spectrometers, with over 80 modular combinations available for diverse observation needs.

In 2024, the group established its own server on the Discord platform, officially named “Science Maker Campus.” It utilizes the large language model WALL-E along with a comprehensive set of online materials and AI tools, offering members reasonable access to these educational resources.

All instruments are not for sale and can only be acquired through voluntary contributions. To encourage observation activities, members can also exchange for special parts in the public Facebook group SciSpot – Science Observation Points Record Zone. For those interested in acquiring scientific instruments, please refer to How to Get a Smartphone Microscope? Registration Guidelines.
